Whether you are out for a casual round of disc golf or are playing a full-day disc golf tournament, you have to find ways to keep your energy up. Of course, hydration is necessary. It’s also smart to pack some snacks in your disc golf bag.

So, what are the best disc golf snacks? Here are some of our favorites:

Trail Mix

When the Jomez Pro boys did their first season of Showmez during quarantine, they did a bracket-style Munch Madness tournament to determine the best disc golf snack. Team Innova’s own “Big Sexy” duo of Jeremy Koling and Nate Sexton were the primary judges. In the end, trail mix pulled off what some might call an upset over the second item on this list below. Trail mix is easy to bring along in your disc golf bag. It offers the perfect combination of salty and sweet with protein and sugar to provide the perfect pick-me-up during a round of disc golf. Who doesn’t love some good trail mix?

Beef Jerky

This is the snack that most assumed would steamroll through the Munch Madness bracket because jerky really is the ultimate disc golf snack. It’s convenient and easy to stick a bag of jerky in your disc golf bag. You can pull out a small piece to nibble on or take a big chunk when you feel hungry. It provides a little boost of protein and energy. It satisfies your hunger without bogging you down. Beef jerky, turkey jerky and now even vegan jerky options are fantastic disc golf snacks. In fact, go get yourself a bag of delicious Double G Craft Jerky in the DGU store!

Fruits or Veggies

For the more health-conscious disc golfers, various fruits and vegetables are excellent disc golf snacks. Apples, oranges and bananas are probably the most popular and portable fruits to munch on, or maybe pack some baby carrots or celery sticks to enjoy when you have a long wait on a tee box back-up.

Granola Bars/Energy Bars

There are many different granola bars, protein bars and energy bars out there. They are easy to put in your disc golf bag’s side pocket and usually provide a nice burst of energy. Protein bars are especially great when you are feeling a little hungrier than some smaller snacks can satisfy. They’ll fill you up without weighing you down.

Sometimes, a little sugar is the cure for the mid-round blues. Whether you like fruity chews or chocolate and nougat, bring along your favorite candy for a tasty disc golf treat. The sugar boost may not last long, but it may be just what you need.

Peanut Butter & Jelly

Is this a meal or a snack? Either way, a simple PB&J sandwich is a great thing to bring with you to the disc golf course. You don’t have to worry about it melting in your bag while you play and it’s ready to eat when you want it, whether that’s before, during or after the round. Smuckers Uncrustables are very popular among disc golfers because you keep them in your freezer and they thaw out while you drive to the course and play. Then, they are perfect to eat when you are feeling hungry.

Nuts & Seeds

Some might lump nuts in with trail mix, but sometimes you don’t need the mix. You can snack on salted peanuts, almonds or cashews, or bring some honey roasted nuts along for a little sweetness. Or, enjoy sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds. Nuts and seeds are packed with protein and are a simple, yet effective disc golf snack.

Lastly, we can’t forget our other favorite salty snacks. Again, maybe not the healthiest option, but that’s okay sometimes. Bring a bag of chips or crackers if that’s what you are into. Just try not to crunch too loud when other players are teeing off!

These are just some of the most popular disc golf snacks. What are your favorite treats to bring along to get you through a long day of disc golf?
